A POLICE officer based in Kuwadzana has been arrested after he stole US$90 from the pockets of a murdered person.
Donald Chinenyanga (33) has since been arrested on charges of theft. He appeared before Harare magistrate Sharon Rakafa on Friday and was released on $10 000 bail.
The State’s case is that on January 7 this year in the evening, Chinenyanga was in the company of two other police constables when they went to a murder scene at a house in Kuwadzana 5.
Among the personal effects on the deceased was a wallet with foreign currency amounting to US$90, the court heard.
Chinenyanga allegedly failed to record the money at the police station. The other officers reported the matter to their superiors leading to his arrest on theft charges.
