CIVIL servants have started accessing their 2021 bonuses in United States dollars after government honoured its promise this Wednesday.
It was all smiles for the civil servants who accessed their 13th cheque in hard currency through various financial institutions ahead of the festive season.
“As you can see by the smile on my face this is my happiest day in 2021 as I received my bonus in hard currency which is going to cushion me from inflation,” a government employee said.
Another noted: “This will go a long way in helping our planning for school fees and other expenses going into the new year.”
Even pensioners were at loss of words in paying tribute to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government for honouring its commitment and paying them a bonus for the first time.
“As a pensioner I am really excited to be receiving the bonus for the first time in hard currency and I am going to enjoy my holidays,” a pensioner said.
“I am really grateful to government for remembering us this year and this is a positive development to most of us,” another said.
Government continues incentivising civil servants through monetary and non monetary initiatives in its quest to improve the conditions of service for its workers.
