A Chitungwiza family was left counting its losses after six armed robbers stormed the home and made off with US$21 700 cash and other belongings.
Police spokesperson Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident which took place on Saturday, adding that the suspects are still at large.
He said Chitungwiza police are investigating circumstances surrounding the robbery case which occurred at a Zengeza 3 home in the dormitory town.
Nyathi said the six suspects attacked a couple and stole US$21 700 and ZAR 5500 cash, as well as a 42 inch television, HP 250 laptop, five cellphones and two satchels.
Police have been urging members of the public against stashing large sums of cash in homes as this attracted dangerous criminals.
There have been a spate of armed robberies across the country, with individuals and businesses alike losing huge sums of cash and valuables in the process.
