Harare police find 16 stolen goats stashed inside Honda Fit

POLICE in Harare have arrested the owner of a Honda Fit vehicle that was packed with sixteen (16) goats in the boot which had been stolen in Mutawatawa.

The incident took place this week Wednesday near the Shamva tollgate in Highlands, and the five suspects were cornered while evading a roadblock and the tollgate using a dirty road.

Police national spokesperson Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident, saying all the suspects fled the scene but the owner of the vehicle was tracked down and arrested.

“Police in Harare are investigating circumstances surrounding the recovery of a Honda Fit motor vehicle, registration number ADX 1619, which had 16 goats crammed in the  boot on 4 August 2021 in a bushy area near Shamva tollgate in Highlands,” said Nyathi.

“The 5 suspects who were evading the tollgate and roadblock through a dust road fled from the scene. Investigations have established that the goats were stolen in Mutawatawa.”

Nyathi added that owner of the Honda Fit has since been arrested by and is assisting with investigations.

Meanwhile, police in Chinhoyi recovered an assortment of medicinal drugs and arrested two men who masqueraded as pharmacists when they had no such licences.

Police spokesperson Nyathi said Henry Norbert Mahogo (55) and Mafios Choto (60) were arraigned before the courts for operating clinics and selling pharmaceutical drugs without licences in Mhangura.

The duo appeared before Chinhoyi Magistrates courts where they were convicted and sentenced a fine of ZWL$150 000 each.

The recovered drugs were destroyed as required in terms of the Drugs and Allied Substances Act, Nyathi said. – Zimbabwe Voice
