A house with a unique structure has sent tongues wagging in Harare’s Warren park suburb because of its distinctive architectural design.
Known as the palace, or the ghost house, the Kufandeka house is one of a kind, often associated with fantasy films like Harry Potter and other horror movies.
Its distinctive architectural design has not escaped the attention of passers-by.
“When I got inside the house I wondered why someone would build a house like that,” says a neighbor.
“When I passed by the house I was shocked to see such a house and people have come to label it a ‘ghost house’,” another said.
Another said he loved the house because of its uniqueness, while another said the whole house and the surroundings are mysterious and eerie.
But what inspired this unique design?
“The house owner used to work with white people and that is where he got inspiration for the durawall and roofing,” says Munyaradzi Msindadzi, the house owner’s grandson.
However, as they say, everything comes with a prize.
A grandson, Craig Mbwana, said, “I used to fear getting out of the house as people would say I live in a ghost house, with witches.”
But there are others who have shown keen interest and are in awe of this unique design.
To others, it is a ghost house, but some view it as a unique piece of art.
Those who have traveled the world will probably view it as architectural design similar to structures commonly found in Iraq, Iran and the Middle East. ZBC ■
