WARRIORS captain and former Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona has joined Saudi Arabia’s topflight newcomers Al-Tai, ending speculation about his future.
With just a year left on his contract with Belgian side Anderlecht, there had been uncertainty over his future after KAS Eupen confirmed they were not extending his loan deal.
Anderlecht on Monday confirmed his move via their twitter account. “Knowledge Musona has joined Al-Tai Football Club. The RSCA wishes him every success in the rest of his career in Saudi Arabia,” the club wrote.
The 31-year-old forward joins the Saudi side which just gained promotion into the country’s top-flight league.
They finished third, in the second-tier league, securing the final slot for a place in the top-flight.
The ‘Smiling Assassin’ previously had two successful spells at Kaizer Chiefs, where he became a firm favourite of the Amakhosi faithful.
Reports had linked him to a return to South Africa. However, the move to the cash-rich Saudi club certainly makes sense for Musona who might have considered that this could be his last major contract overseas.
Musona will be hoping to maintain his form and lead the Warriors at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next January. ■
