Police officer murders wife over cellphone, goes on the run

POLICE in Victoria Falls are investigating a suspected murder case where a police officer allegedly killed his estranged wife in Kamativi this Friday.

ZRP Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said that Constable Bright Ndlovu of Victoria Falls allegedly killed his estranged wife Muchaneta Siziba after a dispute.

Ndlovu, who was on separation with the deceased allegedly attacked and killed her after his attempts to go through the victim’s phone were turned down.

“We are investigating a murder case where Constable Ndlovu of Victoria Falls allegedly killed his estranged wife Muchaneta Siziba on the 18th of June 2021 after a dispute. The parties were firstly said to be on separation and the member wanted to reconcile and the wife was refusing.

“It is alleged that later on he wanted to see some messages from the wife’s phone and she refused and that ignited the dispute which later had some relatives trying to intervene. They went to sleep and the suspect later woke up and attacked her before running away,” he said.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect who disappeared after committing the alleged crime. ■
