A MOTORIST in Bulawayo had to draw out his gun and fire at marauding students who tried to attack him after they were apparently drunk and intoxicated after a night of partying.
Police have confirmed the incident which occurred on Saturday in Selbourne Park, saying the party organizer has since been arrested as he broke Covid-19 regulations as well as the existing curfew.
The party organizer has been named as Michael Muza (30), who is in custody for breaching COVID-19 regulations.
Police say the suspect hosted a party for his fellow university students in Selborne Park, which resulted in violence and attack on innocent motorists who were passing-by.
“A cornered motorist had to fire warning shots to evade attack from marauding students. The party organiser clearly contravened COVID-19 regulations which include a curfew order,” national Police spokesperson Paul Nyathi said.
“The ZRP warns residents and university students against hosting parties late into the night and engaging in orgies of violence,” he added. – Zimbabwe Voice ■
