THOUSANDS of vulnerable villagers in Gokwe North were relieved at the weekend after legislators in the area handed over food items donated by First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa through her Angel of Hope Foundation.
Four constituencies took delivery of food hampers comprising an assortment of various food items, something that brought smiles to a lot of vulnerable and disabled persons.
The food items were handed over to Gokwe North District Development Coordinator, Martin Musakanda, by four legislators in the area at Nembudziya Growth Point.
The four MPs were Justice Mayor Wadyajena (Gokwe-Nembudziya), Torerayi Moyo (Gokwe-Chireya), Steven Ngwenya (Gokwe-Gumunyu) and Leonard Chikomba (Gokwe-Kabuyuni).
Community leaders including Headman Nembudziya and Headman Makore both under Chief Chireya, and senior Government officials, attended the function.
Addressing villagers, Headman Nembudziya paid tribute to the First Lady for her generosity.
“We have a mother who has demonstrated concern for our vulnerable members of society,” he said.
“We have disabled persons, orphans, child-headed families and these people are struggling to put food on their tables. With what the First Lady has done, this will go a long way in mitigating their plight.”
Wadyajena said Mai Mnangagwa had given them the food hampers to distribute in four constituencies. ■
