- "I want you to know that I am strong, unbreakable and unshaven. I want you to even know that I am ready to die for this struggle..."
HARARE West MP Joana Mamombe has written a letter from prison to her mother who is reportedly not feeling well.
In the letter, the MDC Alliance politician says she is ready to die for a just cause and urges her mom not to worry over her. Read the letter below:
Mamombe and her colleague Cecilia Chimbiri stand accused of breaching COVID-19 regulations after holding a press conference at the Harare Magistrates’ Court and have been denied bail repeatedly.
They had appealed to the High Court for bail pending trial. However, Justice Chitapi threw out the appeal.
Mamombe has been described by her party, the opposition MDC Alliance, as a political prisoner being persecuted for fighting injustice while others feel she indeed is a justifiably in remand prison. ■
