Defections won’t harm Chamisa’s chances: Zivhu

By Mutsa Makuvaza

FORMER Zanu-PF MP for Chivi South, Killer Zivhu, reckons that MDC Alliance president Nelson Chamisa is still giving the ruling Zanu-PF party sleepless nights despite top Chamisa officials contemplating defecting to Zanu-PF.

Zanu-PF officials including President Mnangagwa and party political commissar Victor Matemadanda this week both hinted that more opposition bigwigs close to Chamisa are soon to defect to the ruling party. Chamisa’s critics suggested that the defections would finish his political career even before the 2023 elections.

However, Zivhu, who was fired by the ruling party last year after he insisted that Mnangagwa must dialogue with Chamisa, says defections by politicians who are past their best years won’t dent Chamisa’s potential to dislodge Mnangagwa.

“Those who think Chamisa is finished muka ubike doro (you’re dreaming), he can’t be finished by the defections of some old clueless and tired politicians. Only tangible projects by the ruling party can finish him not parading of some disgruntled politicians,” Zivhu said.

Last week, Zanu-PF paraded former MDC Alliance deputy national treasurer Lilian Timveos and former MDC legislator Blessing Chebundo before Mnangagwa at State House. The duo defected citing of directing and too much infighting and harassment by a clique close to Chamisa.

Days later, Chamisa subtly responded by silencing his Secretary-General Chalton Hwende, who was fingered for bullying fellow party members. – Zimbabwe Voice 🔺
