GOVERNMENT has resolved that schools shall open this month, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services permanent secretary Nick Ndabaningi Mangwana has disclosed.
Cabinet sat this Tuesday afternoon and resolved to stagger the re-opening of schools, with examinations classes returning to school on 15 March. All other classes will reopen a week later.
“Cabinet agreed that the school calendar for 2021 starts on a slightly phased approach, with the examination classes starting on the 15th of March 2021 and the rest on 22 March 2021,” Mangwana said.
The reopening of schools follows as President Mnangagwa yesterday eased the lockdown restrictions allowing for more economic activity. The decision, he said, was informed by World Health Organization guidelines as well as the drop in cases of COVID-19 in recent days.
