THE late transport minister, Joel Biggie Matiza and former prisons boss Major General Paradzai Zimondi have been declared national heroes.
ZBC reports that Minister of Defence & War Veterans Affairs who is also Zanu PF National Chair, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri delivered the declarations to the families.
Matiza, Zimondi, and former Education Minister Aeneas Chigwedere succumbed to COVID-19 two days after Foreign Affairs Minister Sibusiso Busi Moyo succumbed to the virus too.
Several top Government officials and Zanu-PF bigwigs have been reported ill with the COVID-19 virus whose cases have peaked after the festive holidays.
To date, Zimbabwe has recorded over 31,000 cases, 974 deaths and 21,377 recoveries.
The first COVID-19 case in Zimbabwe was recorded in March 2020, as was the first death.
In its daily update, the Civil Protection Unit (CPU) said on Sunday, 23 January 2021, new cases recorded were 484 . Twelve deaths were reported as well. – Zimbabwe Voice 🔺
