The ZANU PF Youth League is saddened by the untimely passing on of the Party’s Provincial Youth Chairman for Mashonaland Central Province, Cde Lens Ferenando, better known as Cde Ruwizhi or Cde Dlembeu among revolutionary peers. We join hands with the entire Party leadership, membership and the nation in extending most heartfelt condolences to the Ferenando family, relatives and revolutionary compadres in this darkest hour of grief. We mourn a rare breed of cadre who we can confidently describe as “ZANU PF from start to end” and “ZANU PF inside-out”.
Cde Ruwizhi, an exemplary young patriot entrepreneur in the mining sector, was an inspiration to the young, with his charisma, ethical stance, industry and commitment to the struggle for Zimbabwean sovereign self-determination.
He was a champion of the youth empowerment agenda as espoused under the able leadership of His Excellency President Cde ED Mnangagwa, and as evidenced by his unapologetic passion and zeal in the drive to ensure unfettered youth participation in the mining value chain.
Affectionately known by many as “Rabhauma”, an honorary religious epithet for “Spiritual leader”, Cde Ruwizhi was an ardent member of the Johane Masowe Apostolic Faith Church. His deep religious background proved highly influential and formative in shaping his political and ideological direction, which saw him rise through the ZANU PF Youth League ranks from very humble beginnings in Chipadze, Bindura, trailblazing his way through the structures from Branch, District, Provincial, right through to the National level. His commitment to the revolutionary Party and its ideals remained unbridled.
Cde Ruwizhi will perhaps be best remembered as a self-starter who brought dynamism to all the positions he held; as a member of the ZANU PF Youth League National Executive, and as Youth League Chairman for Mashonaland Central Province, he charted an immutable political career path, characterized by vibrant selfless servant leadership, in which he undoubtedly acquitted himself with distinction. Indeed, his cruel uprooting from among us by the grim reaper leaves a void in the Party which cannot be filled; for God only created one version of him.
In honour of his legacy of principled servant leadership, the ZANU PF Youth League pledges solemnly to carry the fight forward; to continue agitating for the values Cde Ruwizhi fought for; to advocate without wavering, for incremental youth participation in the national political economy, as the revolution draws closer and closer to the attainment of Vision 2030.
Even as we mourn today, we say go well Cde Lens Ferenando. May your dear soul Rest in Peace Eternal, Cde Ruwizhi. Go well Cde Dlembeu, son of the soil. To us, you have all the markings of a hero with many names.
Painfully taken whilst still so young, you fought the good fight, and your travails shall not be in vain.
