Court issues warrant of arrest for Marry Mubaiwa

A WARRANT of arrest has been issued for Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s former wife Marry Mubaiwa after she failed to appear at court.

Harare magistrate Ngoni Nduna slapped the former model with the arrest warrant Monday morning amid indications she failed to attend court because of ill-health.

Mubaiwa was scheduled to appear before the courts on charges of assault, attempted murder and money laundering.

Her lawyer Ms Beatrice Mtetwa told magistrate Nduna that Mubaiwa was at home and could not come to court. She suggested that they arrange for an ambulance to ferry her from home to court.

Marry who for much of this year has been embroiled in a nasty divorce with her estranged husband, Vice President Chiwenga, is alleged to have assaulted family maid Delight Munyoro.

Munyoro filed a police report early this year alleging that Marry had assaulted her at Hellenic School following a heated argument over the custody of Marry and VP Chiwenga’s three minor children.

Munyoro claims in court papers to have sustained a cut on her lips after being struck by Marry. She also says some of her teeth went loose and were left shaking following the alleged assault.

Mrs Netsai Mushayabasa appeared for the State. ■
