CAF shortlists Musona for contender of goal of the past two matchdays

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have shortlisted Warriors captain Knowledge Musona’s scored freekick against Algeria this Monday as a contender for goal of the last Afcon 2022 qualification round.

Musona’s goal from a curling free kick on the edge of the box minutes before the half-time whistle brought the Warriors back into the game, before substitute Prince Dube chipped in a header later in the second half to seal the match at 2 – 2.

Another contender is Algerian captain Riyad Mahrez’s wonder goal in the same match.

Also listed is Ivorian footballer Ibrahim Amada and Ghana’s Andre Ayew. However, the majority of voters have been picking between Musona and Mahrez, with the later having a slight edge at the time 18,000 fans had voted.

Said CAF in a tweet:

 🔥 Solo effort
👌 Perfectly placed shot
🎯 Pinpoint free kick
🚀 Rocket strike
