A TRAGIC event occurred on Monday as Togolese player Awi Toyi lost his life on football pitch following his sudden collapse on the field after feeling unwell in training.
Toyi was preparing with his team ASKO Kara for the preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League as they have been drawn to face Ivorian club Racing Club Abidjan.
Toyi is said to have felt unwell during ASKO Kara’s training session on Monday, leading him to collapse on the training pitch.

The Togolese right back captained Les Chauffeurs de La Kozah before joining ASKO Kara.
The death incident is the second to happen in Togolese football in the past few months, after Kossi Koudagba of ASC Kara had died of malaria at the age of 25 last June.
Egypt are set to face Togo at Kijie Stadium in Lome on Tuesday in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, having beaten them in the first game between the two teams 1-0 on Saturday. – Online ■
