- Peter Gwaza, who said he was the chief executive of Ginimbi’s little-known security company, complained bitterly that local people were coming with the intention of stealing Ginimbi’s property.
A LOCAL village headman in the late business tycoon Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure’s Domboshava area is not happy with security guard from Ginimbi’s GK Security company who he said unleashed vicious dogs on locals who included members of the extended Kadungure family on Friday evening.
Ginimbi was laid to rest inside the sprawling yard last Saturday after six days of mourning with thousands of people moving in and out of the imposing property. During the mourning period, one Peter Gwaza, who said he was the chief executive of Ginimbi’s little-known security company, complained bitterly that local people were coming with the intention of stealing Ginimbi’s property.
“We have already caught two people who had stolen plastic chairs,” Gwaza said. “Again, the house has a lot of property that needs to be protected.”
But Ginimbi’s uncle, who is also the headman in the area said it was not proper for the guards to set dogs on his people as they were also mourning their relative.
Headman Kadungure said this while passing his remarks during Ginimbi’s burial at the latter’s mansion in Domboshava Saturday.
“I am not happy because last night Ginimbi’s security guards unleashed dogs on my people and three people were injured.
“This is unacceptable. How can one unleash vicious dogs on people! If you didn’t want them here, you could have said so,” said Kadungure.
“Three of my people were bitten by dogs and these people are from the Kadungure family. Honestly, I am not happy.”
On Friday night Ginimbi’s friends and other family members staged a farewell party for the businessman who was known for his love for lavish partying and would hardly miss throwing himself birthday parties.
The funeral gave the impoverished locals the chance to savour the amount of opulence the highly affluent businessman treated himself to since the time he struck big in his businesses.
True to his taste for magnificence, Ginimbi’s body, contained in a glittering casket, was lowered into the grave just after 3.30pm on Saturday.
Sports and Youth Deputy Minister Tino Machakaire was a conspicuous government official at the event also graced by area MP, Energy Mutodi.
