POLICE in Chinhoyi are on the hunt for a man who drove away a Toyota Corolla after having been handed the car keys by the owner who had taken one too many glasses of alcohol.
According to police, the incident took place in the Mashonaland West town last Friday, and the suspect, only known as Jackson, has since vanished into thin air with the vehicle.
“A Toyota Corolla on reg. No. ACH 1190 was stolen in Chinhoyi on 23/10/20 after the owner got drunk and trusted a stranger he had just met with the vehicle keys,” police said.
It is not yet clear how the complainant and the suspect met, but police say the motorist had been promised a place to sleep in by the complainant earlier on.

“The suspect only known as Jackson had earlier promised the complainant a place to sleep and had even shown him a house where they would put up for the night.
“The man drove away in the vehicle after complainant fell asleep and his whereabouts are not known,” police said. – Zimbabwe Voice ■
