ZIMBABWEANS from ordinary folks to politicians and even sport personalities on Thursday set Twitter ablaze by poking fun at how MDC-T interim president Thokozani Khupe today woke up an MP despite having lost the 2018 presidential elections by a wide margin compared to her fiercest rival Nelson Chamisa of the MDC Alliance.
While Khupe polled a paltry 45,000 voted as she tried to be Zimbabwe’s President, Chamisa gave Zanu-PF a good run for its money with over 2 million votes.
However, the Supreme Court ruling of March this year dramatically turned Khupe into a leader of the country’s biggest opposition as Chamisa was declared illegitimate over the way he succeeded Morgan Tsvangirai.
Khupe has since recalled dozens of MDC Alliance MPs, Senators and even ward Councillors culminating in her appointing herself as an MP.
Dubbed the #ThokozaniKhupeChallenge, the hash tag by Zimbabweans was among the top trending on Twitter Thursday afternoon. We give a selection of some of the best tweets below:
