Barcelona boss stuns fans by telling midfielder to find new club

It’s exactly one month since Ronald Koeman replaced Quique Setien as Barcelona’s head coach.

The Dutchman, who scored 88 goals in 264 games for the Catalan club between 1989-1995, penned a two-year contract.

His primary task was to overhaul the squad following Barça’s humiliating 8-2 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

And Koeman hasn’t been afraid to make tough decisions, however unpopular they might be with the rest of the players or the fans.

He decided that Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi’s closest friend at Barcelona, would be sold. The Uruguayan striker is still expected to leave Camp Nou before the transfer window closes.

Koeman was also intent on keeping Messi, despite the legendary Argentine forward’s desire to leave the club, and held a frank conversation with the six-time Ballon d’Or winner on arrival.

While the majority of Barça fans understood the decision to offload Suarez, who looked well past his best last season, they are considerably less happy with Koeman’s latest move.

According to RAC1 journalist Gerard Romero, Koeman has informed Rique Puig, one of Barcelona’s most talented young midfielders, to find a new club.

The decision has been met with shock from football fans and journalists alike on social media. – Agencies
