FORMER Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) top official Jacob Mafume says he has not been contacted officially by the authors of a letter purportedly written by his former party which purports that he has been recalled.

Mafume, who a fortnight ago was elected as Harare Mayor, says that if the government were to accept the letter, he maintains his loyalty to the MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa.

The rival MDC-T led by Thokozani Khupe is on a warpath, recalling elected Councillors, Mayors, MPs and Senators loyal to the Chamisa camp.

Already, there have been recalls in Harare City Council, Bulwayo, Marondera, Gwanda, Victoria Falls and other municipalities, amid fears the developments could make it easy for Zanu-PF to call for local Government Minister July Moyo to install commissions.
