We won’t allow Zanu-PF to take over Harare Council: Komichi

OPPOSITION MDC top official Morgen Komichi has vehemently denied rumours that they are plotting to recall more MDC Alliance councillors in order to checkmate newly-elected Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume who was elected last week on an MDC Alliance ticket.

Komichi says the MDC will not recall more councillors because doing so will allow the government to take over the city council.

Komichi was responding to the question if it’s true they were planning mass recalls to decimate Harare City Council when he said: “That is democracy at work. We will not make any further recalls and allow for a scenario that will allow Zanu PF to set up a commission to run the affairs of Harare.

“The MDC-T is, however, going to sit down as a party and map a way forward.”

It is believed the MDC has gone back to the alliance agreement and they are seeking to exploit a clause that brands the MDC Alliance a loose coalition to push Mafume out in favour of their candidate Luckson Mkunguma who lost to Mafume.
